Reds Shut Down Luis Castillo For Rest of the Year
Castillo has been shut down for season and won’t start Friday. He’s healthy, club just felt he’s had enough innings #reds

Luis had a solid year for his first full stint in the big leagues. He started off the year rough, and had posted a 5.58 ERA at the All-Star break. Thanks to a 2.25 ERA in July and a 1.09 in September, Luis will finish with a respectable 4.30 ERA.
In 2019, I’m hoping to see Luis give up less long balls. He’s currently tied for seventh most home runs given up in Major League Baseball (weirdly with Zack Greinke and Justin Verlander) with 28 home runs allowed. Will this happen? Who knows, probably not. It never helps when your home ballpark is Great American.
I’m excited to see how Luis develops in the off-season. Luis will probably be our #3 guy in the rotation next year behind Desclafani and whoever they bring in during free agency (they keep saying they’re going to), and his future with our Reds is very bright.
Can’t wait for Opening Day 2019. The race for the NL Wild Card begins versus Pittsburgh on March 28th.
