MLB All-Star Game Memories: Pedro Goes Off in 1999
Over the next few days, we’ll be looking at some of our favorite MLB All-Star Game and Home Run Derby Memories. Today we look back on the 1999 All-Star Game when Pedro Martinez absolutely dominated in his two innings of work.
Matt Williams reached on an error
Jeff Bagwell=Strikeout, and then Pudge threw Matt Williams out.
Starting off the game with five strikeouts is pretty impressive. Doing it against some of the best hitters of all-time is pure dominance. It’s hard to find a better pitcher in the history of baseball than Pedro when he was in his prime. Go back and look at his stat lines from 1997 to 2003. Pure baseball porn.
Pedro’s two no hit innings and five strikeouts earned him the honor of being named the All-Star Game MVP.
