Manziel may Never get the Chance to Play in the CFL
Many expected Manziel to just show up in Canada and dominate. We all thought that we’d get to see the former Heisman Trophy winner run around, making vintage Johnny Football plays like it’s backyard football.
Instead, we haven’t seen him make it off the bench yet.
It’s not really Manziel’s fault. It’s Jeremiah Masoli’s.
Masoli, the former quarterback at Oregon and Ole Miss, just set a CFL record for most consecutive 300-yard passing games (nine). Masoli is 2nd in the CFL in passing yards, but he’s only thrown for 4 touchdowns to go with 4 interceptions.
Manziel signed a two-year contract with Hamilton, so we’ll definitely see him at some point get some playing time. It might be best for Manziel to sit on the sideline for now while he continues his transition to the Canadian style of play. We did get to see him in limited preseason action, and it was fun to watch. When Manziel gets the chance, he’ll take the league by storm, and hopefully it will help him get back into the NFL.
