Thief Tried to Pay for Dinner with Waitress’ Stolen Credit Card

“PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say an Arkansas thief got his just deserts when he tried to pay for a meal using the waitress’ stolen credit card.
Police spokesman Lt. David De Foor said in a news release that officers arrested 21-year-old Shamon West on Tuesday at Shannon’s Restaurant in Pine Bluff. He says that “having no desire to pay for the fellow’s meal,” waitress Flora Lunsford called to report that the man had tried paying for his meal with her stolen credit card.
De Foor says officers found other items on West that had been in Lunsford’s purse when it was stolen from her car Sunday at a nearby gas station while she was inside, including her Social Security card and driver’s license.
West is being held at the Jefferson County jail in lieu of $2,840 bond on forgery and theft by receiving charges. Jail records don’t list an attorney.”

This definitely has to be the worst feeling ever. You think you’re about to get a free meal, only to have some buzzkill get you arrested. Now you’re in jail because you had their Social Security Card and their Driver’s License to go with their stolen Credit Card. Who really cares if you had any of that stuff? Personal information really isn’t that important, I’m sure all of our information will be leaked within a few years anyways.

This story does remind me of a story that my friend once told me. My friend once tried to get into a bar with a fake ID. He handed the ID to the bouncer, and after a few seconds the bouncer looked back at him. “Really dude?” the bouncer says. My buddy thought he was for sure getting the ID taken but after a few seconds, he realized that it was actually the bouncer’s old ID. The bouncer shook his head, gave a little smirk, and took the guy’s cover. What a nice young man. It’s just a shame that not all people out there are great people like this bouncer, and instead choose to be sticklers over having their credit card and personal information stolen.
